I don't have digital camera but I like to make photos of nature and trains. Yesterday visited me some friends and I did have opportunity to make some photos and create account at deviantART. Because my net works like shit, I didn't upload any photo here.

This is strange, but I've decided to write my blog in english sometimes. Refering to last post. I'm currently working on libpkg library, which simply is library to handle all package-based operation in system like installation, upgrading or removing.

Many people asked us why we don't use other package system like rpm or deb. Answer is simple: we like tgz. Tgz is fast and flexible. We can easly develop it to our own package system without compability loss. Pkg in version 1.0 don't allow to install some old tgz packages but libpkg will allow to do this. Decision of doing that will be in libpkg client hands.

While libpkg is under develop, I and few other people works around libsmarttools also. What is libsmarttools? This is library that provides hard system and memory operations in simple way. Thanks to this library updateos2 was written in about 12 hours. For compare, work with updateos1 last about month. This is good result, but libsmarttools and libupdateos also took some time (about 1 week each).

You can download current sources from our repo:

svn checkout svn://pragma.pl:1310/kateos

and for later updates, cd to kateos directory and:

svn up

Od jakiegoś czasu pracuje nad biblioteką obsługującą pakiety w formacie TgzEx (rozszerzona o zależności, datę budowy i wielojęzyczne opisy pakiety tgz). Całe repozytorium svn, na którym znajdują się wszystkie projekty mocno związane z KateOS znajduje się pod adresem svn://pragma.pl:1310/kateos . By ściągnąć aktualną wersję wystarczy wpisać:

svn checkout svn://pragma.pl:1310/kateos

By uaktualnić repozytorium wystarczy wejść do katalogu kateos i wpisać:

svn up

Czemu TgzEx? Pakiety tgz to przede wszystkim prostota tworzenia, zarządzania i wydajność. Tgz to najzwyklejsze archiwum .tar.gz zawierające dodatkowe pliki z informacjami, które można rozszerzać. Byliśmy niejednokrotnie krytykowani za owe rozszerzanie, ale jeśli się komuś nie podoba to ma do wyboru setki innych dystrybucji, a nie? ;-)

Na nowo otwieram swojego bloga. Dotychczas nie miał on za wielu gości, ale też nie posiadał ani to ciekawych informacji, ani nie był za często uaktualniany. Z tym pewnie nie będzie lepiej.

Ten blog mocno związany jest z projektem KateOS.
